Textease Studio CT
Textease Studio CT is an integrated suite of programs (DTP, spreadsheet, database, paint, branch, turtle/logo, presenter) which is widely used in many schools. Although initially designed for use primarily by children, it has since developed to such a degree that its ease of use and range of innovative features have made it equally suitable for use by adults as well. In fact staff in school use both Textease and Word to create documents such as reports and teaching materials. It remains the primary piece of software used by the children and is used by them for a wide variety of tasks.

The school has licensed the software from the manufacturers (Lightbox - formerly Softease) so that every family can install the software at home absolutely free of charge. The software is complete (not a demo or reduced features) as sold for £199 and comes with an additional disc of resource materials.

Installing the software on your own computer(s) will enable your child(ren) to develop work started in school or even prepare material at home for use in the classroom / ICT suite. All Key Stage 2 pupils have school email accounts which can easily be used for transferring files to and from home.

The software requires a password to make it fully functional. The password is provided with the CD and is valid until next September. At that time Lightbox provide the school with a new password which will be available to all eligible families (i.e. those with pupils still at the school at that time). The current password is always available from the 'Logged In' section of the website. To access this click on the 'Login' button on the 'Home' page. When the small window opens enter your child's normal user name and password that is used at school then click on the 'Login' button. The current password is also available from school on request.

If you would like to install the software simply borrow a copy of the CD and then return it back to school after installation. As there are a limited number of copies please note that depending on the number of requests at any one time there may be a short delay in providing the CD.

Mathletics

The school uses an online program called Mathletics. Children can undertake a variety of games and exercises designed to improve their overall mathematical ability and their mental maths techniques in particular. They are able to compete in real time against each other and even against children from around the world!

Every pupil in school has an individual user name and password for Mathletics which can also be used to access the program from home. If your child does not know their user name and password it can be supplied on request from school.




2Type and Simple City
The school has licensed these two programs which are used in school for home use.

2Type is a typing tutor program suitable for all ages and Simple City is used by our Foundation and younger Key Stage 1 pupils.

You can then choose which program you would like to use
