Gallery : National Coal Mining Museum
In October 2009 Year 5/6
spent a fantastic day at the National Coal Mining
Museum. Unfortunately there are no pictures of the
children actually underground as for safety reasons cameras
are considered to be 'contraband' and had to be left on
the surface (with watches, car keys and phones). However all
the children did go
down in the cage - a distance equivalent to the height
of Blackpool Tower! - and did remarkably well. Everybody
learned a lot and some people confronted personal fears
of the dark, confined spaces etc. You can see a
