Inter-school Sports

On Wednesday 14th July a group of over 40 children from KS2 represented the school at the Inter-school Sports event which was held at Garforth Community College. They had a great time competing against children from the other local primary schools in a variety of field events..

Year 6 Leavers' Performance

On Tuesday 13th July the family and friends of many of our Year 6 children were treated to a fantastic evening of entertainment at our variety talent show. Dancing, singing, comedy sketches, music (piano, guitar, clarinet and violin) and a mad magician from Kazakstan were among the acts on show. In addition to the acts themselves, Year 6 pupils also provided support in other areas: props and stage management as well as operating the sound and lights. Another group had made the backdrops for the stage display. Finally we had a couple of comperes in Robert and Jack G to rival Ant and Dec. As with the comedy sketches they too wrote their own scripts.

Everyone who had taken part in some way or other went on stage for the finale and joined singer Harriet who reprised the song she had sung solo earlier. A talent show to be proud of provided by a group of diversely talented children - brilliant!

Photos and further cast details to follow.

World Cup Focus Week

We had a really exciting World Cup Focus Week in school!  A fantastic range of activities took place including designing and decorating t-shirts, composing and performing football songs and designing a world cup mascot.

There was a great deal of teamwork by everyone involved and a dedicated 'news team' of Year 5/6 children took photographs and carried out interviews of pupils and staff.

For many people the highlight of the week was our very own football tournament. Children from Years 1 to 6 took part in the competition representing their house. Well done to Lotherton who were the overall winners in a very close result.

The week was rounded off by a very lively assembly (complete with singing along to England football songs) which gave everyone the opportunity to see much of the fantastic work undertaken. The assembly also included a presentation of prizes and awards which were made by Mrs Cartwright who organised the event.

Year 5 Residential Visit to Kingswood

Friday 19th was certainly a busy day for Year 5. In addition to taking part in the Sport Relief activities they also went on their residential visit to Kingswood. Although Year 6 have had a residential for many years this is the first time that Year 5 have had the opportunity to experience such a visit at East Garforth. There was certainly a lot of excitement in school about the visit!

Sport Relief

On Friday 19th March East Garforth joined with the rest of the country in supporting Sport Relief. A circuit was set up around the field so that everybody had the opportunity of running (or walking!) a mile. Luckily the weather was fine and made it possible for the children to get outside and join in. Children from Year 3/4 went first of all and were then followed by Year 5/6 who were accompanied by Key Stage 1. Some of the children chose to get themselves sponsored while most also bought 'Sport Relief' licences and wore a variety of wierd and and wonderful outfits. There were people doing a 'three legged mile' and we were also joined by our very own 118 runners! Thanks to everyone's efforts we raised over £1000. A fantastic achievement! Well done to everyone who bought a non-uniform licence and took part and thanks to the sponsors. Click below to see a selection of photos from the day.
